Commercial Water Damage in Santa Rosa Beach Bagel Shop Gets Fast Help

When you have a commercial property, there are many expenditures made to protect it. Insurance, security cameras, and in some cases, sensors all help protect the golden egg: your business. 

The owner of a bagel shop contacted SERVPRO to clean up commercial water damage to her Santa Rosa Beach property. A pipe broke in the prep area for making bagels, and the motion detectors picked up the moving water.  

The owner turned off the water before our technicians arrived on site and she tried to get rid of as much of the water as she could. However, because the pipe leaked for at least a couple of hours before the discovery, copious amounts of water affected the work area. 

While a group of SERVPRO technicians scoped the area with our moisture detection equipment, another group moved out the tables and items in the prep area that had restoration potential. Heavy bags of flour were saturated and required disposal. However, the shop owner moved numerous things that were stored in sealed, food-grade plastic containers to a dry area to limit the loss to her supplies. 

The seal on the floor was intact, and no delamination of the tile occurred. The subflooring showed no excessive moisture when we scoped it, and we checked behind the baseboards and found they needed removal, so thorough drying happened within the wall cavity. Because of the solid hardwood construction of the baseboards, we were able to clean and sanitize them for reuse. 

After complete extraction and drying, a water loss area must return to hygienic standards for food preparation. Our technicians sanitized the outside of the containers before they were brought back into the prep area and SERVPRO team members wiped down all surfaces with our antimicrobial and antibacterial cleaners to ensure we leave the room at the highest sanitary standards.
